Food Distribution

Emergency Food Access Program

Our Emergency Food Access Program distributes food donated by retail grocers, food producers, and other organizations. MAHN also helps redistribute surplus resources between pantries through our interpantry sharing program. This program both provides access to nutritious, culturally relevant foods while also limiting food waste.
Beginning in 2022, MAHN began providing members with access to $500,000 for direct food purchasing through our Nourish Montco Grant. This grant is funded with the generous support of Montgomery County.

Over the past year, MAHN:
  • Provided over 850,000 pounds of food, more than doubling the amount provided just two years ago
  • Distributed 166,000 pounds of fresh produce, 102% more than was distributed in 2023.
  • Offered door-to-door delivery of food on a flexible “take what you need” basis.
  • Redistributed 103,000 pounds of surplus resources through our interpantry sharing program
  • Purchased and distributed high-quality and high-demand food items such as fish and eggs.
