MAHN captured and distributed more than 48,000 lbs. of retail grocer product to fifteen food pantries in the startup phase of its food resource program. With the help of a refrigerated van awarded by Philabundance, our door to door service relieves the food pantry of all transportation and donor relationship responsibilities typically associated with food rescue and donation. The program is expected to generate more than 100,000 lbs. of nutritious product for Montgomery County's emergency food system per year. Also, MAHN expanded its food resource program, aided by the donation of a sixteen foot refrigerated box truck from JBS, to include regular donations from regional providers and network transfers of donated product through pantry to pantry sharing.

Relationship building, knowledge sharing, resource creation, and collaboration are making our network's response to Montgomery County hunger more effective. Food pantries working with MAHN are contributing beyond the scope of their own missions to a coordinated, multi-agency effort that enhances community well-being.

- Food policy defines the parameters of our government feeding programs. MAHN stimulates action that advocates for sound food policy featuring food policy news and information, developing tools to educate pantry staff, volunteers, participants, and organization leadership on the importance of advocating, and promoting calls to action through MAHN's Food Policy Action Alert Network.
